Material Introduction: PA6 BASF B3S is a widely‑used general‑purpose PA6 resin. It features high crystallinity, good flowability and short molding cycle, together with favorable thermal performance, excellent electrical properties and good chemical resistance. It is highly suitable for injection molding of thin‑wall articles.

Thin‑wall components: Housings, accessories, handles, small parts and fastener clips.

Electronic & electrical: Electrical insulating parts.

Automotive parts: Bearings and other components.

Injection Molding Parameters

Processing Item Recommended Range / Condition Notes & Explanations
Drying Treatment Hot‑air drying at 80.0℃ for at least 4.0 h; if exposed to air>8 h, vacuum‑dry at 105℃ for ≥8 h. Critical operation. Keep moisture ≤0.15% to avoid hydrolysis, bubbles, silver streaks and mechanical‑property loss. Use immediately after drying or seal properly for heat preservation.
Melt Temperature 250‑270℃ (melt temperature); barrel temp reference: rear 240℃ / middle 250℃ / front 260℃ / nozzle 260℃. Avoid temperature>300℃ and long‑time residence to prevent material degradation.
Mold Temperature 40.0‑60.0℃; 80‑90℃ may be adopted for structural parts or high‑crystallinity requirements. Mold temperature greatly affects crystallinity and mechanical performance. Higher mold temperature improves crystallinity, stiffness and strength yet may reduce toughness.
Injection Pressure 750‑1250 bar (depends on product & mold design). Adjust according to product and mold structure.
Injection Speed High speed. Fast filling benefits thin‑wall part molding.
Runner & Gate PA6 solidifies rapidly, gate location is critical. Gate bore ≥0.5*t (t = wall thickness of molded part). For hot‑runner system, gate dimension shall be smaller than conventional runner. Minimum diameter for submarine gate ≥0.75 mm. Gate design is vital for cavity filling.
Screw Speed <300 mm/sec. Avoid excessive shear force.
Back Pressure
Shutdown Notice Purge barrel with PE / PP of good thermal stability after production or shutdown to prevent carbonized nylon residue. Turn off heating system for long‑term shutdown.
